Coffee love

I love coffee. A bit too much I think. I have a large selection of various coffees in my kitchen cupboard, I drink 3-4 cups per day at work, I have a fridge full of various frappuccino drinks and I also visit Starbucks pretty regularly (especially at Christmas for the Eggnog lattes!)

I decided to treat myself at the weekend to a Nespresso machine. I got the new Inissia model in Vanilla Cream and it came with the Aeroccino 3 machine which is the best thing ever!
Because I bought the machine this month I got a £40 voucher for the Nespresso website! That should keep me in coffee capsules for at least 6 months! No more trips to Starbucks now I can make my own eggnog lattes at home!

Sarah Millican

For Christmas my boyfriend bought me tickets to see Sarah Millican. The date for the show finally came around last month (it was the 3rd last show on her Home Bird tour). It was at the Mill Volvo Tyne Theatre in Newcastle which is a lovely little theatre that only seats just over 1000 people so needless to say her 4 night run here sold out rather fast!
We had seats in the front row of the Grand Circle so we had a fantastic view.
We weren't allowed to take any photos inside the theatre, but I can tell you the whole night was hilarious. Her support act was a comedian called Tom Allen. We had not heard of him before, but after his short 15 min set we are both fans - he was so funny!
Sarah was as hilarious as always too. This tour is probably the funniest one yet. I will definitely see her again on her next tour!

The merch surprised me at how cheap it was - being a regular music gig-goer I'm used to seeing ridiculous prices for merch, but here I got the Home Bird goodie bag which was a blue printed tote bag and it contained a signed programme, a tea towel, a poster, a keyring and a fridge magnet all for £15! I also bought myself a Home Bird mug (seen below filled with mocha frappuccino and squirty cream!) and a mug for my mum as a present for her. We also got free Home Bird badges on the way out. Absolutely fantastic night!

More crochet and baking

I've been crocheting like crazy the past couple of weeks in order to get the second little blanket finished for our other chair! I finally finished it on Sunday, and it took me approximately 10 days to make which is pretty good going for me!
Same as the previous blanket, I used a mixture of Stylecraft Special DK, Woolcraft New Fashion DK and some Hayfield Bonus DK. I used a 4.5mm hook. This time the squares were 5 rounds instead of 11, and I think it gives a nice contrast to the other blanket :-)
I'll post a picture of both chairs soon!

I've also been baking again! We both like to have some sweet treats in our house, so on Sunday I decided to bake us each a cake! For me it was an orange cake with orange butter icing which I love, but don't make for myself very often, and for my boyfriend it was his favourite chocolate cake with raspberry jam.

Yummy!

Completed crochet!

Here is another project I finished! This is a little blanket I made to go with the cushion covers from my earlier post. This goes over the back of one of our little chairs. I've just started to make another one for the other chair using smaller 5 round granny squares, but using the same colour palette :-)
Majority of yarn used is Stylecraft special dk,  with some Woolcraft New Fashion DK in there also.

Hoarding Up

Both myself and my boyfriend are huge film & TV fans, and as such, we buy a lot of blu-rays and DVD's.
A couple of weekends ago we made our usual trip into town to go hoarding up, so here is what I bought for myself!

1. Deadwood: I watched this a few years ago after borrowing it from someone at work and I absolutely loved it! I have been wanting to buy it for a long time.

2. Catherine Cookson Collection: I am a huge fan of Catherine Cookson, and being from South Tyneside myself, I love the adaptations that have been made from her books. I used to watch them on the Drama channel at weekends, but they dont show them every weekend and its only the same 2 or 3 that they show in a cycle, so now I can have my fix whenever I want! (note: my favourites are A Dinner of Herbs, Tilly Trotter, The Dwelling Place and The Cinder Path)

3. Cranford: In case you haven't guessed already, I like period dramas :-) I didnt watch Cranford when it was on TV, but my mum did and enjoyed it. I managed to watch it last year and loved it, so decided I wanted to own it on DVD.

4. New Girl Season 1: I LOVE this show! And HMV had the DVD for £4.99 with any other purchase, so it would have been rude not to! Schmidt is probably the best character on any TV series ever!

I baked...

And for the second post of today!
My boyfriend loves chocolate cake with raspberry jam in, so last night I baked one for him! (Now I don't like jam in chocolate cakes, so this cake is all for him!)
I made rather a lot of chocolate buttercream, and decided rather than waste any I just put it all on the cake! And apparently the cake is very yummy :-)

Some completed crochet!

For the last 2 weeks or so I have been working on a couple of cushion covers for some little cushions to go on our new tub chairs. I tried to start making these a few months ago but I couldn't get inspired with what colours and pattern to use. Eventually I decided to go with the classic granny square. The back is plain granny squares in grey. I'm so pleased with them, and they look great on the chairs :-)
Started now with a couple of little throws to go over the backs of the chairs :-)
I used mainly Stylecraft Special DK, with some Woolcraft New Fashion DK in there too. Very soft and snuggly :-)
